Body-Worn Camera Footage from Fatal Police-Involved Shooting in Montgomery County Released

BALTIMORE, MD – The Independent Investigations Division (IID) of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General today released the body-worn camera footage from the fatal police-involved shooting involving the Montgomery County Department of Police and the Gaithersburg Police Department that occurred on Sunday, July 12, 2026, in Gaithersburg, Montgomery County, Maryland. 

The decedent was previously identified as 46-year-old Elliott Powers of Rockville, Maryland. 

The IID continues to investigate the circumstances of this fatal police-involved shooting. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the IID at (410) 576-7070 or by email at [email protected].
